Beyond Farming: Restaurant Systems and What to Do Next
Plan your next Farm to Table goal: service, research, processed ingredients, market sales, offshore deliveries, staff, pets and achievements.

Choose your next goal
The farm supplies a restaurant that you also have to run. A useful session starts with one decision: improve service, finish a research requirement, build a supply buffer, or expand an income route. Trying to grow every crop and serve every dish at once can make shortages harder to diagnose.
Use this guide as a map of the systems. The linked guides below contain the recipe combinations, research branches and troubleshooting steps. The screenshot above illustrates outdoor service; it does not establish prices, unlock costs or current balance.
| What you want to improve | A practical next step |
|---|---|
| Guests leave before eating | Check Needs Attention, the daily menu, ingredients and the path from kitchen to table. |
| Research feels slow | Choose an active project and prioritize orders carrying its qualifying-category badge. |
| The kitchen keeps running out | Plan processed ingredients and accessible shelf space before adding more dishes. |
| You want another income route | Compare spare stock against market demand and the exact offshore delivery requirements. |
| You spend all day doing chores | Unlock and assign staff, then check their stock, paths and wait reasons. |
| You want a longer-term target | Use the achievement checklist and the Management screen to choose a measurable goal. |
Service: prepare a menu you can actually supply
Before opening, check the ingredients and cooking station for each dish on the daily menu. Preparation is a chance to organize stock and intermediate ingredients. During service, watch unfinished orders and customer patience rather than expanding the menu indiscriminately.
Needs Attention helps distinguish shortages, waiting orders and unhappy departures. After closing, review the daily report before changing your layout or staffing. EA 1.1.170 reveals report panels in sequence; the Next button appears after the final panel.
October fixes address specific missing-preparation and missing-report triggers. If a day transition behaves incorrectly, use the Current Issues guide to match the symptom rather than assuming it is a normal game rule.

Restaurant rating: check the Management screen
Five stars provide a longer-term restaurant goal. Menu variety, decoration, service and the information in the Management screen help you decide where to invest next. The supplied reference describes menu and decoration contributions to expected daily visitors, alongside popularity, likes and cleanliness information.
Actual cleanliness and customer satisfaction with cleanliness are separate displays. Treat a low satisfaction result as a reason to inspect service and cleaning; do not infer an exact star-rating formula or fixed weighting from these indicators.
Research: serving the right categories moves progress
Select a project and read its category requirements. Since October 13, qualifying orders have a badge and a served dish gives category feedback. Completion prompts you to select the next project. This makes research part of menu planning, not merely a shopping list.
Documented branches include Market before Dairy, Waiter Payment Collection after the first Farmer research and before Stove II, and Tomato Presser before the first Tool Shop upgrade. Follow the full research guide for the intermediate staff-capacity steps.
Knowledge Broker requires completing 30 research projects. That target does not establish the total number of nodes in the research tree.
Production: stock the ingredients that connect dishes
Machines produce advanced ingredients, while recipes turn those ingredients into dishes. Keep the two steps separate when planning stock. For example, the confirmed Pizza recipe uses Tomato Sauce, Flour and Cheese, one unit of each, at the Bakery Oven.
The supplied reference sketches wheat-to-flour, milk-to-cheese and fruit-to-jam chains. It does not establish machine input quantities, conversion ratios, processing times or every product label. Use your unlocked machine interface for production requirements and the recipe database for the documented dish ingredients.
A practical approach is to choose one processed ingredient used by your menu, keep a shelf buffer for it, and watch whether staff can reach that shelf. This is a planning suggestion, not a measured optimum.
Market sales and offshore deliveries are different jobs
Market customers buy produce from selling surfaces and queue to pay. Make the stock and checkout route accessible. The October 16 patch makes shoppers skip unreachable shelves and lets the queue advance when someone leaves it.
Offshore orders require specified goods and quantities. Check the shortfall message before setting items aside; delivery confirmation shows cash and XP. October 2 fixes orders being replaced on loading and preserves earned tickets.
Compare delivery commitments with the restaurant stock you still need. The supplied reference mentions a courier name without supporting evidence, so no NPC-specific unlock route is presented here.
Staff: automate a task, then inspect the handoff
Chefs cook, Waiters serve and clean, Farmers handle crops, and Ranchers feed animals and collect their products. These are not an exhaustive list of roles: the existing cashier guide covers market checkout as well.
A Rancher can be assigned up to eight livestock buildings. Waiter payment collection needs research and is optional; serving and cleaning take priority. Staff customization and Daily Bonuses shipped September 30, not as a new October feature.
Daily Bonuses add 50% of base daily wage for 30% faster movement and work until the next in-game day, with optional renewal. Decide whether a particular bottleneck justifies that cost rather than applying bonuses automatically.
Leave shelf capacity free at closing. October 2 lists a known case where crops still carried by a Farmer are lost at the next day when all shelves are full; the subsequent notes do not explicitly confirm it fixed.

Exploration, pets and lower-effort controls
Gathering and fishing broaden the ingredient supply beyond the farm. Auto Reel, added October 13, fills the fishing bar without repeated tapping. Press Once to Water starts and cancels watering with individual presses; both assists are off by default. Reduced Camera Motion is another optional comfort setting.
Pet companions are advertised on the official store page. The supplied reference also reports naming, petting and carrying pets from player accounts; it does not establish a reliable acquisition route. October 13 fixes gameplay controls not returning after confirming a pet name.
Do not confuse a press-and-hold interaction with a separate cooking minigame. This guide focuses on preparing ingredients, using appliances and serving orders. The sources here do not establish a catalog of cooking minigames or a fish-location and rarity table.

Twelve achievement goals
These targets give you concrete milestones across the systems. Completion percentages and review totals change, so they are not presented as permanent difficulty ratings. The original reference percentages are not used to rank the goals.
| Achievement | Goal |
|---|---|
| You're Hired | Hire your first staff member. |
| Upgraded | Buy or upgrade your first tool. |
| First Star | Reach a 1-star restaurant rating. |
| Regulars | Serve 1,000 customers. |
| Leaf It To Me | Serve 1,000 vegetable dishes. |
| Green Thumb | Harvest 1,000 crops. |
| Shopkeeper | Make your first Farmers’ Market sale. |
| Mogul | Hold 100,000 in cash at once. |
| Knowledge Broker | Complete 30 research projects. |
| Meat Sweats | Serve 1,000 meat dishes. |
| Recipe Explorer | Cook 30 different recipes. |
| Five-Star Service | Reach a 5-star restaurant rating. |
Released features versus the roadmap
The store describes an approximate 6–12-month Early Access period, explicitly allowing changes. It is an estimate, not a confirmed full-release date. More recent dated patch notes take precedence where the store FAQ still describes a feature, such as the market, in future tense.
| Status | Feature | What the evidence supports |
|---|---|---|
| Released September 30 | Rancher, expanded land, larger shelves, staff options and controller support | Four extra plots at level 25 for 25,000 each; 72-item and 192-item shelves. See Patch Notes for the separate unlocks and prices. |
| Released October 2–16 | Save and staff fixes, comfort assists, research feedback and background play | Latest documented numbered patch is EA 1.1.170. Switching windows now leaves the game running. |
| Internal testing / planned | Co-op | October 13 reports internal testing and polishing. The earlier end-of-2026 testing target is not a public launch date. |
| Testing / planned | Third-person camera | The developer describes promising tests; these notes do not announce a released camera option. |
| Planned | More recipes, ingredients, stations and decorations | No new recipe ingredients or quantities can be inferred from the announcement. |
| Longer-term Early Access plans | Expanded exploration, automation and seasonal events | Store FAQ plans are not evidence of released quests, festivals or new island routes. |
What player impressions can and cannot tell you
The supplied review roundup highlights the connection between growing food and serving it, while some players find the unlock order restrictive or the stocking loop repetitive. These are different preferences, not contradictory rules about how the game works.
Playtime reports do not establish a universal completion time. Old complaints about staff behavior should be read alongside October fixes, and individual harvest or profit examples should not become current database values.
